Shireen Hamza is a PhD student at the Department of the History of Science at Harvard. Her dissertation work is on the intellectual and material exchange between medical knowledge systems in the medieval Indian Ocean World, especially between Rasulid Yemen and Gujarat. She is interested in the medieval court as a scientific site and in the maritime circulation of materia medica. Shireen is also a managing editor of the Ottoman History Podcast and the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies.
